Windows Xp: Block Unwanted Website With DNS

I write about using Nawala DNS to protect our network/home computer from bad sites. We other option to accomplish this, by edit Windows XP DNS system directly. Open your Widows Explorer, go to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc, open hosts file with notepad.

Example add a web site name, redirect to our computer (block it).
You should refresh DNS cache on Windows XP to take effect:
1. Go to Start
2. Select Run
3. Type cmd, then OK
4. On DOS Command Prompt type ipconfig /flushdns

You may check this file, if you find suspicious behavior of your computer. Some malicious software (malware) such as spyware, virus or worm may change this file.

Some software offer automatically check and fix eg. SpyBot Search & Destroy
